Fenstermaker

The shoreline of the Rockefeller Wildlife Refuge, located in Cameron Parish, Louisiana, is eroding at a rate of 70 feet each year. This is due to poor soil conditions and a lack of bearing capacity, which makes traditional coastal protection measures unfeasible.

To combat the loss of marsh habitat along this stretch of the gulf, Fenstermaker was selected by the CAMERON PARISH POLICE JURY to expand upon a previous project that found lightweight core breakwaters to be a viable solution.

This structure will reduce retreat along the shoreline as well as promote shallowing, settling out, and natural vegetative colonization of overwash material landward of the breakwater. Learn more about this incredible project here: https://lnkd.in/d3qawmtr
